Is OwlScope free?

Yes. OwlScope is 100% free with a full feature set including the radial menu, app launcher, script runner, system commands, Pomodoro timer, habit tracker, and usage statistics. Pro add-ons are optional one-time purchases — buy only what you need.

What macOS versions are supported?

OwlScope requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Is my data private?

Yes. OwlScope runs 100% locally. No telemetry, no analytics, no data uploaded. Your usage stats, habits, menu configurations, and clipboard history never leave your Mac. The only network requests are for account login/authentication, license verification (when you purchase Pro features), and automatic update checks.

Do I need to create an account?

No — the free version works without an account. You only need an account if you want to purchase Pro add-ons.

How do Pro purchases work?

Pro features are sold individually as one-time purchases through Paddle (our payment provider). There are no subscriptions. Buy AI Prompts, Screen Capture, Clipboard Manager, Annotation, or Speech to Text separately — only pay for what you use.

Can I use Pro features on multiple Macs?

Yes. Purchases are tied to your OwlScope account, not your device. Sign in on any Mac to activate your Pro features.

Why does OwlScope need Accessibility permission?

Accessibility access is required to register global hotkeys (so ⌘E works system-wide) and to position the radial menu at your cursor. OwlScope does not read your keystrokes or screen content — it only uses this permission for menu activation.

Can I change the default hotkey?

Yes. Go to Settings → Shortcuts and set any key combination as the global menu hotkey.

The hotkey isn't working. What should I do?

First, check that Accessibility permission is granted (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → OwlScope). If it's already enabled, try toggling it off and on, then relaunch OwlScope. If the issue persists, contact support@owlscope.app.

How do I update OwlScope?

OwlScope checks for updates automatically using Sparkle. When an update is available, you'll see a notification in the app. You can also manually check in Settings → About → Check for Updates.

Can I import/export my menu configuration?

Yes. Go to Settings → General and use the Export/Import buttons. Your entire config (menu layout, theme, shortcuts, sounds) is saved to a .owlscope file that you can back up or share.
